Yesterday I volunteered at our local Ironman race. The heat was brutal and there were many that didn’t make it. For those that did I applaud you as those were extreme conditions and you slayed it if you stepped across the finish line before the cut off last night.
Oddly enough last night I hear that Chicago Cubs outfielder Chris Coghlan has the longest current active streak of consecutive games played. Wanna guess what the streak is? Go on guess. 137 games, yes only 137 games. Now we know why Cal Ripken Jr is called the Ironman.
Cal’s streak ended at 2632 consecutive games. Amazing right? That’s a long time to grind it out day in and day out and take the field at shortstop. I applaud your effort Cal truly amazing.
